This is a personal series of Mondrian´s evolution. He didn´t make it on purpose. This is the way he saw a tree through his entire life: almost 30 years from the first painting to the last one: he was 21 when he made the first painting. At 52 he painted the "egg framed tree", his last version of a tree.
